I went here in a group after work to blow off some steam, and I just got back and have to say it was a very mediocre dining experience. I ordered a farm burger, with fried egg, bacon, and no onion. Burger came with onions, fine I picked them off. Fried egg was fried within an inch of its life, no runny yolk at all, which is the best part of an egg on a burger. Bacon was really good, crisp and delicious. Burger patty is obviously a frozen patty, had that cylindrical shape to it and it tasted okay. They make their own pickles in house and they are very sweet, way too much sugar in the brine I think. Also, not pickled enough as they seemed like sweet cucumbers instead of pickles. The tater tots were excellent, I liked those very much. I sampled a couple other things from my co-workers' plates. Nacho chips were really sweet/artificial tasting. They honestly tasted like Fruit Loops. The cheese sauce they made was just mediocre, not too spicy and not very cheesy. Almost a bechamel sauce, but a lot of flour in it. I don't know, I just wasn't crazy about it. The wings need more sauce, as they were just fried chicken wings. You could barely taste any sauce or flavor. I did like their cheese curds, those were seasoned nicely, as were the tater tots. The drinks were a little weak sauce. I ordered a strawberry margarita and it barely had any tequila in it. My other drinks were beers, can't complain about that. I really did feel like they skimped on the booze in the margarita. The good things about the Tap House are the service and the fried things. The tater tots and cheese curds were really good and seasoned perfectly. Our server did a great job separating checks for 8 people, even though we all ordered at different times and just kept ordering food constantly. Everything came out hot and in a timely fashion. I was just incredibly disappointed in the food. Their menu looks and sounds amazing, but the food was very lackluster indeed. The kitchen does a great job seasoning their side dishes, but fails when it comes to the prepared stuff, like burgers and wings. Especially those pickles. Man, I love pickles and those were just cucumbers dipped in sugar water. Disappointing. I would go back and have some drinks, but probably not food.

My 5 star rating is for their $5 Tuesday burgers! Get it... 5 stars for $5! My favorite burger is The Farm burger. This amazing burger entails an Angus beef, bacon jam, fried egg, cheddar and apple wood smoked bacon. This burger is normally $12.99, but on Tuesdays it's only $5!!! Bargain! Tap House has other specials on weeknights as well, but this is by far one of my favorite nights to come. They also have a long beer, wine and specialty cocktails list.

Had a great time here for a girls' night out (high school reunion "pre-reunion" get together). 38 craft brews, good burgers and mmmmm dooonuts. lol Homer Simpson would have been proud. Traci was our server and she was super cool and friendly. We had a lot of great little conversations in between ordering. This is a great hang out place. I really enjoyed the food and beers and since it has the bar vibe, our loud gaggle of ladies did not disturb anyone! I love to discover "in the middle" places to meet up with suburban friends. They are between the city and burbs and just a quick drive off the expressway. This one was suggested by one of the girls who lives locally, and it was a great suggestion. Love finding these little gems!

First visit, Memorial Day- wasn't so good. Second visit Friday after was hopeful but again a disappointment. Will not return and recommend you spend your money elsewhere. Neither of these visits was the restaurant busy and the servers are just awful. First-Memorial Day- we were eating lunch, all 3 of us water drinkers and as it was a hot day we asked for a pitcher of water. It was never refilled. I was never asked if I wanted a refill on my soda. The chicken fingers I had were very good- light breading and not greasy. Tater tots sorely under done. Homemade pickles were just spicy cucumbers (didn't sit long enough to be pickles). At bill time we noticed the tater tots were an add on. I mentioned to the waiter (JD) if they were not included with the meal (as sides were for the other two in my party who ordered different entrees), he should have said as an "add on" or "for an extra charge" after sayingd "fries, salad or tater tots" immediately after I ordered the chicken fingers. He took them off the bill-good thing since I had three. It was not a good experience. The couple I went with and I were given a card for $10 off next meal expiring in 10 days. Not sure I would make it back or if I wanted to. Another friend wanted to try it--- so we did to take advantage of $10 off. Second visit 5/30- Early dinner. Asked for a pitcher of water- waitress said her manager would not allow (?) it. Instead brought us two extra glasses of water. Good move there and was hopeful. Took a while to get our menus. Once she handed them to us she said- "so do you need a few minutes"? Uh, YEAH since you just handed the menu to me 2 seconds ago!! She said oh well some people know what they want- well then we wouldn't need menus then, huh? I ordered the root beer beef with gouda and mushrooms. Bread was cold and there was no gouda at all. I had asked for soda with my meal. I had to ask for it again because she didn't bring it. My friend ordered the primerib sliders; she said they were good- but not worth the money for the amount of meat on them. The waitress brought me some gouda but by that time the sandwich (I should say the meat- ) was cold. When I called her attention to the NO GOUDA she said- it is ON THE BREAD. When I showed her it was not, " oh, I never saw that before". My friend says, Id have been happier at Culvers' or Panera". Oh, the salad was good. Tasty variety of veggies and good croutons. However, I asked for thousand and she came back telling me there was none (which is why I ordered salad, to have thousand dressing). Maybe if you go there to drink and not eat you get better service, I don't know. This place is a mess and i was disgusted even with the $10 off bill. Maybe if you're blitzed, it doesn't matter that the food/service is subpar.

I seriously wanted to love this place being that it is in the neighborhood. We sat outdoors on a beautiful night and continued to breath in the smoke from all the smoking patrons who would would stand 5 feet away from the railings torture us with their dragon feature. We ordered the Bruschetta appetizer. Hard toasted bread with a pile of cold tomatoes and goat cheese that you would spoon on to it. Never had Bruschetta tis was and I never want to again. I ordered the 5 cheese grilled cheese. Besides from having the bread cut the long way from the loaf it was miserable. Usually grilled cheese is melted. I opened the sandwich and could clearly see the unmelted slices. It was supposed to come with a pickle that I did not get. I asked if there was anything special about the fries - seasoned etc - the waiter said there was but they are know for their tater tots - ok I'll try them. Tater tots tasted like they were from Aldi. They were served with a nasty sauce that I nearly choked on. Waiter was not attentive. There goes $45 I'll never get back.

This was a nice stop. It's a newer brewhouse located in Des Plaines' Metropolitan Square, a nice little enclave of newer restaurants and cafes. $5 burgers on Tuesdays (regularly at $10.49 - $12.99). They have a nice beer list, with 44 on tap, and various canned brews as well. Beer of the month is only $3.50 per pint. Tonight, it was Oskar Blues Mama's Little Yella Pils (5.3% ABV). We also tried their Farm burger, and the THG stuffed burger. The burger and beer deals were great. The atmosphere is very relaxed, friendly, and casual, and you can talk easily with the music in background. They have a lot of seating around the bar situated in center of their space. Only little complaint was it does take a while for the food, and it seemed we were waiting maybe 25 minutes while it wasn't exceptionally busy. Will be back though!

Great food. Great service (ask for Jim). Atmosphere was perfect, not one song I came on that I didn't like. Not too crowded. Will frequent. Often.

I really liked this place. It was our first time here and the wait staff was super friendly. They have $5 burgers on Tuesday's (I think, they run specials every night) and it's a pretty good deal! The burgers were delicious! Most places will do the most basic burgers for their specials but at Tap House you could pick pretty much any kind except for their super premium ones with Koby beef. They also have a pretty decent beer list for being a smaller bar/restaurant. A lot of the popular craft beers from microbreweries around Chicago and then your basic domestics and imports. The real reason I'm giving them a 5 star though is because of their customer service. It rocks! Our waitress found out it was our first time there so she brought the manager over. He introduced himself and gave us 2 pretty cool beer mugs from one of their vendors and 2 free appetizer cards for our next visit. He also asked for our feedback on our experience. It's awesome to see managers that actually care about what's going on in their restaurant. A+ customer service!! I will be back just because of that.

Food quality was lousy. I ordered shrimp tacos, the shrimp was fried and all you can taste is the greasy skin. Place was pricy for absolutely nothing. Tab Beer $6.50 ?? I guess they thought downtown Des Plaines is same as downtown Chicago.

this place has a lot of potential, good food, large selection of beers, really great specials every day of the week, good atmosphere, many big screen tv's. avoid getting a table. Sit by the bar so you are guaranteed good and prompt service

Either us or they have a dark cloud above :-). Finally went back, great waitress ( but had an emergency- so she left ), BF set up a nice romantic night, food pretty good, but oddly had some kind of chemical spill and we had to leave right after dinner. But a much better experience and we appreciate that they asked us back .

Typical stay the course, nothing out of the ordinary kind of sports bar. Decent beer menu. Decent whiskey selection. That said, I ordered an old fashioned and they had to come back and ask me what that was exactly. I LOL'd. It's crazy how busy this place can get. Just goes to show you how desperate people in this area are for a place to go. There's almost no restaurants/bars in the downtown area. I'd still probably frequent this place over miner treet tavern, but that isn't saying much.

There's a lot to like about Tap House, but there's also room for improvement. Here's the breakdown: The Good --Beer! Delicious beer! The majority of it is craft and/or local here. --Surprisingly good mac & cheese --Oversized grilled cheese sandwiches served with tomato basil dipping sauce --Friendly staff --Much more kid friendly than you'd expect from a beer emporium --Ample parking; proximity to public transit and cabs if you over-imbibe The Bad --Menu knowledge varies a great deal between staff members --Order accuracy varies a great deal between staff members --Things generally move a little slower than you might like if you do dine here with children The Ugly --Sometimes they overcook the tater tots. :( Overall, I like Tap House, but future visits will most likely be spent enjoying a beer with friends rather than dining with my little one.

Stopped in for dinner. Saw their impressive beer menu and ordered a Crispin Pear Cider, which is pretty hard to find. Ordered the blackened tilapia tacos, which were light, fresh, and tasty! The bartender was friendly and took care of everyone the way a good tender of bars should! The atmosphere is standard sports bar, but done well. John Taffer would approve if he popped in...

I would have given this place 4 stars but I just dined here and I ordered a honey dew martini, was told it was 8 or 9 bucks, turned out to be $12 and it was not good and watered down, I took a couple sips and told the waitress I did not like it and she told me there was no returns or exchanges so basically this place can serve you shit in a glass and tell you to f*ck off, I will not be coming back...bad customer service guys!!!

Great musically minded bartender didn't get his name but he was great. 40 beers on tap with an excellent selection.. I had the apple salad with chicken and it was great.

Went here last night with a friend before a wake for dinner. The location was easy to find and there was plenty of parking. I have gone to the glen Ellyn location before and loved it however, we were disappointed with this location. I am not from the area so I thought it was a safe choice. We were greeted and sat promptly. When we arrived they were not very busy but filled up quick during our meal. It took our server about 10 minutes to greet us so have her our drink order and ordered an appetizer. When she came back to take our Order we ordered another appetizer and our meals ( 2 sandwiches). After about 15 minutes we are getting antsy for our appetizers. Our server final brought the second one we ordered ( French fries with parm cheese) we never got our first appetizer that we ordered and when our food came I asked what happen and she didn't remember us ordering it. The food was good but the service was pretty slow. My friends sandwich looked amazing. I ordered the pesto chicken wrap with bacon. The presentation was good but the bacon was missing. Overall it tasted okay. Since we were had a wake to go to we wanted the check but couldn't find our server and had to flag down the bartender for our check and the server never came back to our table.

Don't come here during a sports game. They were completely understaffed. We didn't see our server for an hour and it took 45 minutes after we ordered beers to get them.

We arrived at 5:30 on a Saturday night and couldn't believe how slow the service was. It took forever to get a waiter and even longer for drinks. The waiter actually came to the table and asked whether he could order more drinks for us since it was taking so long. We were there about 3 months ago and it was a great experience. Very disappointing now. Under staffed, horrible service and the food was only average.

So happy there is a restaurant like this in downtown Des Plaines! Just a good go-to. Our first visit was for Mother's Day brunch. They had a great special menu. But before we got to that, mama needed her Bloody Mary and Tap House does not hold back! My husband had chicken and biscuits, which he really enjoyed. I had a crab cake eggs benedict. Delicious! We'll be back.

Not too loud/noisy. They have tons of beers on tap, and the fish tacos were tasty, not overdone or too greasy. Prices are reasonable, and they have daily deals that are pretty good. On Saturdays after 9pm, appetizers are only 5 bucks. Worth coming back, although I wouldn't travel far to come here.

The food was very good. We ordered the salmon and the pretzel prime rib. Both dishes are good enough to potentially come back for. Just order something besides fries as a side because you won't get much. I regret not getting the side salad instead. Service very much lacked. I've never had to give a 10% tip before and it bothers me that I had too. Our server never checked on our table until it was time for a check. I had to ask the table nearby to use their ketchup. My water was never refilled. Even when I have sub par service, I still tip 15-20% but our server never looked at us despite several walk bys. We tried to get his attention. We are disappointed in this could have been a much much better experience.

awesome selection of beers, yummy burgers and get the tots, not the fries. I also like that they offer beer school, its a cool way to get their customers coming back for more!

This bar/grill is a prime candidate for Gordon Ramsay's kitchen nightmares!!!!!!! Over priced, the manger/bar tender Chris has horrible manners, never felt welcome there, food ok - never seemed to be hot enough and every time I ask for a specific beer they are out of it! Only person I liked, Sean has quit.

My girlfriend and I have been to this one and the one is Westmont. We tended to prefer this one since it felt more for adults than the Westmont one, which felt like a family restaurant. I'm writing this review however with the past two visits in mind. The previous visit, I ordered the meat and potatoes medium rare. Well, it came out well rarer than expected, to the point where it was blue and cold. Luckily the manager did come by to inspect and was able to cook a new one, but no comp off the bill. The most recent time we went here, it was $5 titos cocktails on special. My girlfriend ordered one with tonic water and I ordered it as a dirty martini, with the waitress taking the order with no questions asked. Upon ordering a second one (with my girlfriend now wanted a dirty martini), the waitress proceeded to now let us know that there is an upcharge to having dirty martinis and they won't be $5 (ended up being $8 each). All I said to her was that would've been nice to hear when we ordered drinks the first time and her response was "well this is always upcharged during the special" like we are supposed to know. We don't live in the area and this is the first time we had this special so that was a very condescending response to say to a customer. We left the location with intention to going back to Westmont or a different location from this point on with the addition that whatever my girlfriend has ordered there hasn't been good and has been mediocre as well.

Husband and I came for dinner on a Wednesday night. Turns out there's a $5 burger special, and we love their burgers, so bonus! I ordered a peach strawberry Bellini. It came out and did not appear to be the drink I ordered. I was informed that they were out of a key ingredient, so the bartender just prepared it without it. She said she'd take it back, but insisted it was still basically the same drink. Whatever, it's booze. Fine. They were actually out of this ingredient when we came a couple weeks ago, too, so I have yet to ever get to try this martini. Unfortunately, it just seemed like no one cared that was working. Then we ordered two burgers. One stuffed burger with a side salad, one mushroom bleu cheese with fries. My stuffed burger was actually raw in the middle. Like, red, mushy ground beef. My salad had an inch of water mixed with dressing pooled in the bottom. It was gross. My husband's fries were cold. Our nacho appetizer came out quite cold, but it was still relatively tasty. To top it off, there were a ton of bugs flying around because they had the patio open and one of them landed in my cocktail, so I guess it just wasn't meant to be. Bathrooms were really neglected. It was 9:30 pm and the trash was overflowing onto the sinks, there was soap all over the counter/sink, toilet paper torn up in the stalls. We've been here before and really loved it. This was super disappointing. Normally I'm a big fan of their burgers, but tonight the food was WAY off. Waitress was friendly, but was extremely dismissive of the problems at the table. Place just looked messy and unkempt. I'm guessing the manager was off tonight or never came out to the floor. I'm not saying don't go, but I'd stick to ordering a beer and simple food.

Even though they had 4 - 5 open tables, they turned away potential customers because they claimed they ran out of serving dishes and glasses as "the bar couldn't keep up" with the large amount of people that dined there on that day. Place seemed pretty spacious to me so this made absolutely no sense. We left without leaving our name for a table, and not willing to give them a second chance.

The service is absolutely horrible every single time I come here. I've had to take my tables drinks to the bar to get refills several different occasions. They've gotten my order wrong several different times, but the food is good bar food. If you can put up with the worlds worst service, then I say give it a go. The food is pretty good and so is the parking.

Good beer, good snacks, good waiter, complete chump of a bartender, and manager also didn't get it.We went there Fourth of July middle of the day. Place was basically empty, so we were the only group there. They had beer samples. We had several beer lovers who like to try bunches and bunches. So we ordered a bunch of samples looking for the right match. No problem, our waiter was a good guy and guided us through the nice board of beer, though the listings had a bunch of errors. Then suddenly after we had ordered some food, the bartender (chris I think was his name) came over and showed his butt. He told us we ordered too many samples and we were cut off. He said the waiter should have explained we can get a couple samples. We said he didn't and the bartender said 'well, i will be weiting him up too' uh, sorry, you are going to write us up? I was finally able to run him off, though it was harder than I thought it would. Had I been there alone, he would have had his feelings hurt bad, and no way I would have waited for my food. Likely would have not paid. A bit later the manager comes over. I told him to go away we are no longer discussing things with the staff there. He then said he would do us a favor and let us order more samples. Uh, no thanks chump. So many ways to handle the situation. I don't mind people being jerks, been known to wear that hat often. However, if you work in service, not a good idea. You earn jack for stars. Wouldn't hold it against the chain, just this location. Actually just that bartender and the manager to a lesser extent. Tools. Almost wish I lived and could go back just to be annoying....not really.

I really wanted to like this place, as the previous tenant had poor service. Guess it carried over. Been in several times, the bartenders would rather talk to each other than serve patrons. Sat at a table last week, ordered a beer since there was a promotion going on, never received the beer. Pricy menu, and poor service. They charge $1.00 for samples of new brews, other local establishments do not.

I would give this place a 3.5 if that was an option. Overall, this is a nice, new, modern but AVERAGE restaurant in Des Plaines with a nice outdoor patio. Come to this place if you are just looking to grab a bit to eat or have a drink. This is a popular place in Des Plaines and is usually relatively busy during lunch and in the evening. 1. Appetizers are all priced betweed $9-11 which is a bummer if you wanted to grab some small items. For example, fried pickles (by themselves) are over $9 and so are the cheese curds (by themselves). These are like add on side items and should not be priced the same as an entree 2. Entree portions are decent sized and presented well. I had the farm burger with egg. It was just okay because there was NO flavor. The patty had no flavoring at all. There was also no salt or pepper o the table. It was bland. My husband had the BLT sandwich but it was bland as well. It did come with a nice side sauce (mayo w/ mustard?) 3. Drinks were pretty good. A large beer selection (few pages long) and their martini was strong (although you could tell that the waitress spilled about half a shot worth because the glass was noticeably not filled to the top. 4. For dessert we had the brownie which was just okay. You could tell that the brownie was not fresh and was warmed up. It was just okay.

A few buddies and I stopped in here a few months ago when they had a special 1 dollar draft night. We ordered multiple appetizers, the curds and the totchos. Both tremendous and inventive. I ordered the 5 cheese grilled cheese, which I can't find on their online menu right now.. hope it's still available, and it was the best grilled cheese I ever had!

Tap is a really nice place. We went for a friend's birthday celebration. They had an entire area set up for the party with balloons. It wound up being pretty busy but that didn't deter the serving staff. Our waitress, Marissa, was very attentive and knowledgable. She made good recommendations for the large beer list and was always checking in with our area making sure we had what we needed. This was especially nice since it was pretty busy! Tap has a pretty large list of beers to choose from. What was really cool was that you could get samples of each for a dollar. The list was rather extensive. Of course I wound up getting a Summer Shandy anyway since I am a creature of habit. My girlfriend got the Shrimp and Grits which was really good. I'm not a huge fan of grits in general but the shrimp was outstanding. Good flavor! I got the buffalo chicken wrap. Oh man it was good. The buffalo sauce gave it a nice kick - it was spicier than buffalo sauces I've had recently. The best part was that the bill was quite reasonable. This was a great restaurant! This is a good place to post up before going to Rivers! Recommended!

Tap House Grill should be commended for really owning the local/regional restaurants. They have unique events at each place but have the ability to manage the restaurants well. The staff in Des Plaines is really passionate and really seem to enjoy the place. I like the beer list each month and make every attempt to go there whenever there's a new beer on tap. I do admit to having a fondness for their tater tots and sandwiches. So go there, enjoy and now that it's nice out grab a spot outside!

Tuesdays are $5 burgers with a purchase of a beverage. It is only stated on their chalkboard and the waiters/waitresses won't even make a peep if you don't ask to make sure. Same thing goes for when you order a side of sauce and they don't warn you it's an extra 50¢. My coworker was annoyed that ranch was an extra charge and she was not informed and confronted the waitress. The waitress apologized and then stated "It says it on the menu and it's ONLY 50¢...". That's not the point and you shouldn't speak to your customer that way. So rude. I came around 6:45 with a group of 10+ coworkers. We had two people waiting our party and they really could not get it together. One person would take our drink orders and the other would return confused because she didn't know who ordered what. Several people in our party were easily overlooked by our waiter--even after I loudly yelled "Wait, wait, WAIT!!!". Nope. Just completely ignored. That's not cool. I ordered a Goose Island Green Line ($5, woo!). We all ordered our food and the waiter told my friend and I that he wouldn't be able to split the appetizer between us because they're not allowed to split one item. Okay...so how many things do I gotta order to split with someone... I had the cheese curds to share. Not bad, but not worth $10. Most of their appetizers range from $9-$10--which I think is ridiculous because why would appetizers cost just as much, if not more, than an entree?! I ordered the Farm Burger and wanted my egg over medium. When our food came, the food runners had no clue how any of the dishes were prepared or requested, nor did they know who ordered what. Three people in our party ordered the Farm Burger, one without cheese, one as stated on the menu and I asked for my egg to be over medium and my burger cooked medium. The one without cheese can be seen. But requests would only be known by the cook...so it's just annoying to request my food a certain way and not know if I've received it the way I asked or if my coworker did. Clearly Tap House needs to get the communication between staff in line. The burger comes with your choice of fries, tots or salad. Fries were decent and my burger was as well. The bacon had a hint of sweetness and was perfectly crisp. Their house made pickles are sweet and vinegary--which I liked! But I know it's not a traditional pickle. I like the deals Tap House offers, but for my first visit, their service was mediocre and unorganized. It says something when we had two waiters who couldn't get our drink orders straight, our food orders, and about half our party received their bills without the $5 burger deal. How do you manage to forget and remember and forget and remember the deal of the day. What a headache. Not worth the deals IMO.

Visiting from the Dallas, Fort Worth area I was surprised to see Shiner and Southern Tier on the list of brews Tap House offers. I walked in with two others after 9 on a Sunday. There was one guy working the bar, that left it briefly to take our orders. He was very fast and courteous. I had the Farm Burger with Bacon Jam and topped with a fried egg and a glass of the Southern Tier Pumking. A pleasant way to spend the evening.

Stopped by to watch some sports and catch a drink. Looks like the have a nice assortment of beers on tap I noticed they have a $5 Bloody Mary bar so I ordered that. Nice selection at the bar but only one type of mix. My buddy ordered the red wine but he returned it because the glass still had a strong sanitizer smell. Food was ok, I had the drunken shrimp. I don't know what seasoning they used but it overpowered all the other flavors. I couldn't finish it. My buddy had the cheese soup. He said it was ok. But not a big portion for the price. Service was great.

We all went as a group at around 9pm to have dinner and a few drinks, the food was very good. Our service was bad, the girl kept asking if we were almost leaving, and how much longer we were gonna stay cause she wanted to go home and she couldn't leave until we left. We felt rushed, and didn't feel comfortable ordering another drink.

This place gets 3 stars cause the food is delicious, to bad it takes a long time to get the food, I went there last and sat on the patio and sat there for 15 minutes until I had to go to the host stand, to let them know no server had come up to us. I was very upset by this luckily our Server name was Christian and he saved the day by making sure our food came out fast so we could make a movie. So If Christian still works there keep him around he is great!! but every time I have sat at the bar the bartender is not very attentive and just leads to a bad experience which is a shame since the food is good.

This was a real disappointment. The service was incredibly slow even though the restaurant really wasn't packed. Plus, it took a long time to get the food and then they brought out the wrong order for me. They took both our orders back to the kitchen even though my mom's order was correct and she was really hungry by that point. Then, the check reflected the wrong items, so we had to get that corrected as well. The food was super over-priced and nothing to write home about. I would never go back here.

This is a local gem. Great place to grab a beer and watch Blackhawks game but the food is the real diamond in the rough. The fried fish is excellent and you can't beat the Friday night all you can eat special! And for the best service, ask for Christian. He will not disappoint!

Excellent resturant. Food amazing ...meat in burgers so juicy and delicious ...even when ordered well done..unlike my previous experience at one of my previous reviews of a place in woodfield which promotes avoiding ordering well done to prevent from being dry. This place is so good. I love their food and such a great selection :) It's our go to lunch place ... Even our waiter received a 30 dollar tip on a 45 dollar bill. So worth it. What a breath of fresh air to finally receive great service.

Came here for an early lunch with a friend. The staff are attentive & friendly. There is a very extensive beer selection. We had the deep fried bacon appetizer - while I may die of heart disease SOLELY due to eating just this one dish, it will be a glorious and happy death. Very rich (duh) & filling, so be warned. The Brussel sprout with bacon appetizer was also fantastic. We both had shrimp tacos which were impressive. I would definitely come back!

Pretty mundane and boring. The only time the server took interest in us was when I mistakenly walked out with the wrong receipt. It's a really cool layout. Wide open, bar in the center, and some pretty impressive windows. Unfortunately, they just don't do much with the place -- except hope that the atmosphere makes up for the "blah" food. (Hint: it doesn't.)

  • Gaclyn A.

Let me start out by saying that the beer selection is phenomenal. You can try any beer for a dollar. They have monthly specials and I know that this month it's $3.50 Sam Adams Octoberfest. They also have a full bar for the more adventurous of us. Let's talk about the food. I had a grilled cheese melt, which I'm pretty sure it was actually a foot long! It was covered in grease and was delicious. My mother had a burger, which she said was awesome. We also ordered a salad to share which wasn't that fantastic. This is definitely typical American food. The music playing is top 40, and the general ambience is a little lacking. But the bartenders and wait staff are friendly and helpful, which really helped to sell this place.

The food was enjoyable the service was horrendous. We waited over 30 minutes for burgers and a pulled pork sandwich. The place was half empty so you can't say it's because they were busy. I'm fairly sure the waitress forgot our food. Even paying took forever and waitress short changed us. It really is a shame that I have to give a 2 star review considering that the food was good and the beer selection is awesome. The service is awful. Avoid the redhead.

Trust me, I really wanted to like this place I went back twice before writing this. I'll start by saying what I do like : Petty average craft beer list, lots of good ones on tap. Supposedly the Mac and cheese bites are homemade and the grilled cheese sandwichs are gigantic. The bad; I ordered those Mac and cheese bites - bit into one and to my surprise they were still frozen in the middle... Rreeaallyyyy?! By the time I could flag a waitress down I she was bringing our food out. Welp! so much for the service or food quality. If you just want to have a drink, this place is ok, otherwise beware. It's a shame downtown dp can't catch a break maannnnn.

Love Tap House Grille! My fiancé and I have tried a different entree every time we have visited and have yet to be disappointed. Pretty extensive beer selection, but usually have a liquor special going on as well. Service isn't always the best, but the staff is friendly and the food makes up for the wait.

Nice makeover since it was Cheeseburger in Paradise! Wings are good - sriracha sauce. Beers on special are reasonable $4-$6 draft and change monthly. Their beer menu lacks descriptions, their staff is cluless and they expect you to download an app for beer info - really? This place is similar to the Yard House in Glenview. If you go when they're busy or during game time, expect slow service on drinks. We sat about 10 mins before our waitress came. Kobi beef burger and fries were excellent, highly recommend. This place could really work on their service though. Our first waitress said her shift was ending and someone else would be our server, but was still lingering in the restaurant, yet had someone else bring us our food. We sat and waited at least 15 minutes for our waitress to come by with the check when we were more than ready to leave.

My hubby and I go there at least once a week. Their service and food are awesome! They definitely know how to cook and serve ppl. Most of the servers are great, esp Liz is very friendly and makes customers feel welcomed! Only thing I would suggest them to do would be keeping the restrooms more organized and clean, it can def ruin reputation of the restaurant.

where do I start....hmmm...Well got there the host was rude.. No one came to our table to introduce themselves as our waiter for about 10-15 mins, couldn't remember orders, the bacon was not cooked at all ( fried bacon app), the food in general was horrible. I will never come here again.. EVER!!! Over priced crap food!

First time here and nothing special. Sat at the bar for the Blackhawks game with my friend. It has a nice layout with a mixed crowd. Slightly older crowd on a Saturday night - cougars looking for young men, older men with younger women, jungle fever to the next level lol. It's a hot mess of people. There's a nice selection of drafts. It reminds me of The Yardhouse minus the nice booths. Food was decent. I've had better food at places like Hopleaf or Lady Gregory's in Andersonville. Enough said.

When we heard a new place was opening, we were excited. Come to find out, it was a let down. Here's the breakdown: Food (2 stars) - nothing special about the menu and the food was very salty. Based on the quality and portion size of the food, price was high. Cleanliness (2 1/2 stars) - Better training/leadership could be done about this. Service (3 stars) - Nothing stood out that really impressed us during our past two visits, since opening day. Ambiance (1 star) - BORING. Promoting March Madness doesn't mean having the game on without sound. In order to hear the Blackhawks game, they had to turn down the music and turn up the volume on each tv. When you promote a sporting event, it means you promote it. One could learn a trick or two from Fox and Hound in Schaumburg. Overall (2stars) - Nothing too special about this place. It's just a restaurant with a bar and a tv's.

Appetizers are great. Sean the waiter is excellent also. Good variety of draft and a nice place to watch a game. Back for a 3rd time. kitchen was a little slow. But the waitress was great. I really think they have some of the best wait staff. Sean the waiter wasn't even at our table but still stopped by to say hi. And he remembered all of us.

Came here for Mother's Day because we were close by getting pedicures. Nice little outdoor seating area, good size menu with plenty of food choices, and a decent craft beer selection, especially for the burbs. My favorite was the pressed chicken mushroom sandwich ( with truffle oil!). The side salad was pretty big and the balsamic dressing was good. Bonus, they had a Mother's Day gift for my mom and coupon offers at the end!

I tried the Tap House Grill since I live a minute away walking distance and I missed the Cheeseburger Paradise. My associate and I quickly noticed that the menu notes that there drink menu is being updated. The waitress kindly handed us a printout of the beers they have which included a lot of craft beers. I'm sure that will be updated after the transitional period. The service was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. They were just a little slow but to be fair the place was busy. I ordered the THG burger medium done and I felt it was slightly under cooked but tasted incredible. Their seasoned fries were good as well. My associate had the wings and said they were okay but spicy enough. I believe this place has the potential to be great local place to hangout, eat, and watch sports.

I can't stand this place walked in and right the way walked out..... I live very close by this place so I was like let me go there for a drink, so I went to the bar and asked the bar tender what kind of cognacs you have wow the answer was like " this is a beer place what are u doing here " wow really at less offer me something else so I was like you know what let me leave, I left and I will never go back again and I will not recommended to no one !!!!!!!!!!

This place has really good food, and a whole lot of beer! We went in the first time in December when they first opened, and the flow was good. No unexpected waiting for food or drinks due to being brand new. That's not easy to do so we went back in late January and it still was good. I had the Chicken Caesar Press, it's served on a Chibbatta Bagguett

Really love this place!! They have an official opening in January but the Tap House is using this time as a soft opening so I gave them four stars. The food is really good. Is it a Michelin restaurant? No, but it is much better than any other mid range chain. Food is great, a little oversize on the portions but everything keeps till the next day so whatev. I like the steak wedge, shrimp tacos, and boneless wings. Giant grilled cheese is great but will raise your cholesterol. Beer list is good. They've been out of stuff I have a hankering for but they keep a nice inventory of craft beer on tap and you can QR stuff you don't like for more information. Cocktails are amazing / I recommend the strong island iced tea)) Space is nice but in progress. They're adding art and tweaking lighting. Lots of TV's but it's cool for game day. BEAR DOWN!! Lots of bar seating and plenty of tables - they're usually crowded but space and service are manageable. Love the service. Plenty of beatiful boys and girls willing to make anything you want happen. The bar tenders know about most the beers and make great drinks. The waiters are super nice, personable, and on top of their game. Check it out, Tap House is always a good time!!

Stopped by randomly when in the area! We just ordered drinks and a few appetizers. Our server- Stephanie- was great! The manager comes to give you a gift for your first visit which was a nice touch. We ordered soft pretzels, fried bacon app, and Brussels sprouts! The Brussels sprouts were DELICIOUS! Cooked with a yummy sauce and served with toast and bacon jam on it.... I will be back soon just for this again! The fried bacon appetizer was good but the bacon could have been crispier inside. Extensive beer list and good vibes! I think it's a hit.

I really like this place. Excellent draft beer list thats always changing. The food is excellent. I've had a few different things and it was all prepared perfectly. Try the fried bacon, delicious but share, can't get through the whole portion alone without a heart attack. Kobe burger is awesome and the grilled cheese is too. 5 stars sounds excessive but I honestly couldn't find something I didn't like!

Lots of good beer and food at Tap House. Beer menu is fairly extensive with an emphasis on craft beers. Each month features a different brewery, which opens up even more drink options. I wish the beer menu wasn't just a couple of 8.5 x 11 sheets of paper stapled together though. Does that take away from my experience? Absolutely not but but why not have an appearance similar to the food menu? Speaking of food, I have not been disappointed with anything on it yet. Try the exotic chicken wings. Really good flavor with a touch of spice. Wings overall are nice and meaty without an abundance of heavy breading. Burgers are pretty solid and they even offer a burger eating challenge! Finish ~2.5 lbs of burger and fries (combined) and you get an exclusive reward t-shirt... and bragging rights of course. Prices are reasonable for almost everything. It's a craft beer place so expect some beers to be a bit higher. Besides food, they have occasional beer events throughout the year. Some of these include tastings, educational sessions, and more.

If you read my profile, I say I only give good reviews. If I don't like something, I keep it to myself instead of hurting a business. I'm making an exception because I feel with some effort and customer service this place should be soooooo much better. The menu is creative & awesome, but a poor job executing it! We've eaten at Tap House in Highwood (the only one of the 9 locations that is not owned by the same partners.) and it does a stellar job with the same menu. We ordered the 1 pound BLT, which should be heaping with a pound of house made, sugar coated bacon. This one looked like any BLT from I-hop or any other chain. 5 slices of bacon, not coated in their signature brown sugar. When we called over the manager, she argued with us, saying the whole sandwich is 1 lb, NOT 1lb. of bacon. All I can tell you is in Highwood you have to take off 5 slices just to take a bite. The Blue Cheese fries were cold, the sides were wrong on 2 dishes, the service was lacking and it didn't really seem like they cared. I will say the only awesome dish was the skirt steak salad, kind of like a deconstructed wedge salad with a nice slice of the house made bacon and a very tender and delicious skirt steak. They have cheap nightly specials and a creative menu, but I wouldn't have very high expectations.

This place is right next to a stop on my route and decided to take my wife out for a date. We had about a five minute wait to get a table. Which it dawned on me while we were driving there that there might be a wait since there was a Hawks game on. The waitress was very friendly. The clientele was a large variety of people. I was expecting mostly a younger crowd but there was older couples in there, families, and my favorite was the table of middle aged women next to us having a girls night out. We started off with mild chicken wings. They were excellent. We both has the brew burgers and added bacon. The bacon was sweet. I thought it was odd that the burger didn't come with tomato. The fries were a bit skimpy. Probably what knocked this out of being five stars was the fact that they didn't bring condiments to the table. No water was brought out either. If I'm in the neighborhood I'd eat there again.

This was my second time here, the first time was amazing but the second time was awful. The beer selection is good, but the bartender (manager) is extremely rude. And he even swiped OUR card on someone else's tab! It was a Monday night so nobody was there but 3 of us and 2 other people. Such a shame, the food/desserts are awesome but the employees ruined our experience.

Have eaten here a number of times and the food has always been outstanding. The servers have always been friendly and last night was no exception. My server Kyle was a credit to this restaurant, very helpful, attentive and super nice. It was Veteran's Day and since I am a veteran, the restaurant gave me a complimentary meal. Very generous. I thought there would be a limited selection for my choices as some other restaurants do, but I was allowed to choose whatever entree I wanted. Had the Pretzel Prime Rib Dip (sooooooo good!!). My hats off to Tap House Grill for their generosity to the veterans. I had called in advance since I didn't know if another dinner purchase was required, but when I indicated I would be alone, I was told it didn't matter. Thanks, Tap House Grill for a great establishment here in Des Plaines and for the wonderful meal!

Over a month ago, a friend and I went here for drinks, specifically for the Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro listed on their beer list and something to snack on. We both ordered the Milk Stout Nitro, but were surprised to notice that it tasted quite like Guinness. To someone not paying attention, these beers can seem quite similar in both taste and appearance, but to both of us who know both their tastes well, it was quite clear that this was NOT Milk Stout Nitro. The aftertaste gives it away. We let the waitress know and asked for another beer as something was clearly off, and she skeptically brought it back to the bartender, stating that she wasn't sure if the bartender would be able to. A few minutes later, the waitress came back and was suspiciously apologetic (quite different from her original tone) and said they'd be happy to replace them for us. Though they did replace the drinks with something else, its within the realm of possibility that they tried to serve us Guinness, hoping we wouldn't notice, as it is a more readily available and inexpensive beer. As of today, Milk Stout Nitro is no longer on the menu.

The food is not impressing. The price are too high and the atmosphere is terrible. First of all there is no greeting they have sign saying " seat yourself" never seen it before. The place is kinda dirty, tables were not clean. The waitress was nice but I didn't like the fact that I got charged for a dish I didn't like.99% of the restaurant will never charge you for that. I'm pretty sure it will not be open for long. I will never go back in there.

Not impressed. For an appetizer, we had the Cheese Soup. Very bland. They had some special sauces for a wing madness. There was one that sounded interesting. Flying Peanut Butter. It had Peanut Butter, Ghost Peppers, and a Chocolate Mole Stout. I asked for a sample of the sauce before ordering my wings. It was disgusting. All you could taste was the peanut butter and the chocolate stout. No hint of the ghost pepper. I settled on the Mango Habanero sauce. Again very bland. No comparison to the Mango Habanero at either Buffalo Wild wings or Wing Stop. My wife had a burger that was noting special. I was anxious to try this place as we both miss Cheeseburger In Paradise which used to be in that location. I would not recommend this place.

If I remember correctly, there were 100 beers on tap, and if I'm not remembering correctly, it was close to 100. It's more of a bar than a restaurant, but the nachos were amazing. The only reason I didn't settle for an even 5 stars, is because it does suffer the problem of being a bit noisy as the music is blasting, and it can be hard to converse at times. Other than that, I recommend this place. Metropolitan Square is a wonderful place, and should get better once it gets warm out, and Tap House can throw parties outside.

I've been to the Tap House Grill a few times now and have enjoyed everything i've eaten, especially the exotic wings and cheese curds. They have a solid beer selection with a good rotation, but it tends to be on the expensive side for the suburbs. It's a good addition to downtown Des Plaines, I will be back.

Love this place! My husband and I have been going almost every Friday since they opened! We have never have had is issue with service, other then the bar they are a little slow to get drinks out. That's why I gave them 4 stars. We have built a relationship with a few servers and now ask to sit in their sections, they know us by name and make us feel super welcome. Food is great and a lot of choices to please everyone.

Living in the area, we were excited to see this restaurant come to town. We visited the first week the restaurant opened. The menu and beer selection are extensive. There were many things we wanted to try. We decided on a few draft beers and the pork nachos. The nachos were wonderful - highly recommended. Our dinners - the apple, goat cheese salad and the root beer braised beef sandwich were above average. Chalk it up to it being a new restaurant, but the salad lacked a little flavor, and the celery taste seemed off. The braised beef sandwich was supposed to come with cheese, but we didn't see any on the sandwich. Alas, the side of tots was great. Our server (and all the staff) were super friendly. Next time, we'll try the fried pickle appetizer. Thanks for coming to Des Plaines. We'll definitely be back!

Terrible experience. I was jealous of the dinner my dog ate tonight. I was actually excited for my first visit here. Perusing the menu prior to going, I saw a lot of good-looking pub food, including a Sprecher Root Beer-Braised Beef Sandwich that both sounded great and apparently was a Sandwich Of The Year winner or something (more on this sandwich in a bit). The beer list was lengthy, and this new Des Plaines location even was offering a $3.50 Firestone Walker Draft Special. So I ordered the Draft Beer Special I remembered seeing on the website and was told they weren't offering any specials as they were too new. The waitress even confirmed with the Hostess this was indeed the case. WTF? I remembered seeing it on the damn website, so I then spent the next 10 minutes trying to get a cel phone signal in the place to pull up the ad to prove to them it was indeed on there and prove them wrong. Found the ad, showed it to the Manager, and was now informed that they didn't even HAVE that beer. Okay...so after all of that, surely they will offer me a comparable draft beer at this $3.50 rate, right? No, of course not. Not even a mere mention of giving me an alternative. Great start! The service was terrible, but I guess I am supposed to excuse this for some reason as its so new? Fine. Let's get to the food then. Deep-Fried Bacon? I'm in. Until I tasted it, that is. Somewhere deep inside this bloated batter I believe there MAY have been a bacon bit in there, perhaps. Nothing special. That Root Beer-braised sandwich I mentioned before? The award-winner? It was chunks of mediocre steak on a hoagie roll. No nicely shredded braised beef anywhere that I saw, and not even a hint of any root beer flavor. And this was an award winner? C'mon! Oh, wait...wheres the damn Gouda cheese that is supposed to be melted atop this sandwich? Its not on there, so I complain and I'm told "its not melted on top, it is mixed in there!" Huh? WTF does that even mean? From the other items my friends ordered, I gathered that one the salads was "edible". So I won't be back. Perhaps your experience will be better.

So far I have tried the stuffed burger, drunken shrimp, and fish & chips. I really enjoyed each dish. They have a great beer menu and definitely the best selection of any bar in Des Plaines. I'm looking forward to the Revolution tap takeover at the end of January. The service was a little slow, but the restaurant is still very new and I'm sure they will get faster.

Poor and somewhat surly service. . .I could easily make better food at home. The donut desserts are to die for and the only reason I would stop in. I think I know why most customers were at the bar drinking and not eating.

Went out to dinner here recently. Everyone enjoyed the experience. Service was good, friendly waitstaff, and our waitress never disappeared for too long. Good sign for a new place. Our waitress was personable and enthusiastic and willing to give recommendations on the menu. The beer selection is impressive. Lots of craft and local brews on tap, along with a few cheap ($3.50) draft selections if that's more what you're looking for. The beers on tap seem set to rotate regularly, and you can view the "coming soon" beers online. Food was good. One of us ordered the Crispy Beer Battered Chicken Melt, which he couldn't stop raving about, including when he warmed it up a few days later for leftovers. I dove into a burger, because let's be honest, at the end of the day, that's what I judge a bar on. It was really good, simple as that. Beware the spicy pickles on sandwiches, if they're not your thing. That was the only thing I didn't enjoy about my experience, but that's just a matter of taste. The other dish at our table was the salmon and was also enjoyed. The tots were straight-forward and perfect. Again, I'm focusing on the priorities here. They've apparently solved any issues with their tots since the review that documented them as over-cooked. Atmosphere was good for dinner. Not too noisy, surprisingly enough. There seems to be enough people and material in the room to deaden the sound a bit, and the loud music seemed to be well-focused on the more bar-like side of the room. I'm eager to go back for the nightlife, but said nightlife did NOT get in the way of others having an enjoyable dinner with conversation. Great location, well-executed food, and enough beer and menu variety to keep it exciting for everyone. The ingredients are all there for a good time. I'm reserving my 5th star until I try more of the menu and get a feel for what the place is like when it really gets rolling.

If you're looking for craft beer, The Tap House Grill has plenty to offer. It looks like about 50 beers on tap, and their can and bottle menu rounds out the selections. Nice variety of menu items - I recommend the Braised Beef and Gouda sandwich. It's awesome and truly qualifies the restaurant as a gastropub. I've mostly eaten at the bar, and the food service (even the beer service) is a little spotty. It seem like the bar is understaffed, and if there are a lot of orders from the tables, the bar tender may be somewhat preoccupied - so order your next beer when the bartender is close by. Overall, worth the trip - great beer selection and good food choices.

I live 30 seconds away from there, walking. And I was exited a new place opened up in the area. I went there for the first time with my co workers. And the service was not the best. I only had drinks and no food. So I can't rate the food. I sat by the bar and ordered a round of Patron shots for me and my friends. The bartender (lady) pulls out a Don Julio tequila. I asked her why she is giving us Don Julio. She said Don Julio is better and chilled, and the Paton is not chilled. First of all the bitch is trying to up sell me and I did not appreciate that. Because that is not how you make a good impression to a new customer. And I told the bitch is my first time here and I live at the condo, which is 40 feet away. So I took the Don Julio. Then I ordered another round of Don Julio later on the night. The bill comes for $93. I ordered 8 shots of Don Julio. So I asked her for a break down of what the $93 was. You can't just ask a person for $93 and not have a breakdown of what they are paying. She told me I had 10 shots. But I had 8 shots only. She argued with me and I paid the $93. I'm not a guy that argues but I a guy that remembers for the next time. I will possibly go there again because I live right there. But they made a bad first impression.

Des Plaines natives have been waiting for a place like this. Finally a place near my house that serves craft beer! One star for having a huge craft beer list, another star for decent ambiance (a place you can enjoy for just a drink or just a meal), and a third star for having ok food. I love the foot-long melts...I had one with an egg on it and it was delish...the wings were just ok the quesadillas were just ok....glad to see it in the downtown area, that's for sure.

Went here for lunch today - waited OVER AN HOUR for food! Yes, AT LUNCH! As someone who also works in the food industry, I find this beyond unexceptable. The worst part about it was us being ignored. The place was practically empty. A sorry our kitchen is backed up would have been the proper way to go, but instead of blaming the kitchen on this one, I will blame our server. Our server obviously didn't know what he was doing as it took us 10 minutes to even get a strawberry lemonade. I just don't get how a kitchen is so unprepared for a lunch crowd and how you don't train your servers to let your tables know that the kitchen may be backed up. But in reality, over an hour to get a LUNCH is beyond horrible service. I will NEVER be back and I will do my best to make sure no one wastes their precious time at this mediocre place. And p.s the manager Amanda - she needs to be a little more aware of whats going on and go to tables herself if the kitchen is really that backed up. Airheads.

I was able to enjoy this restaurant on it's opening day as well as about a week ago. Overall a nice restaurant with a nice selection of beer. My server (Brandy) was great! Exceptional knowledge of the menu and got excited when she would recommend items to me. Food is good. Now for the not so good..... Their beer menu is printed off on plain white paper with pages of beer. While I LOVE variety and trying new beers I would have hoped they had descriptions of each beer they serve. Also another irritation is at the top of the page written in black sharpie are the words, "No Returns." When I questioned my server about it she told me they also only allow one tasting of a beer and charge for others after. I was pretty taken aback by this. As a bartender in a brewery I am encouraged to let my guests sample beer so they are more likely to chose one they enjoy. If you are going to market yourself as a "tap house" I would expect you to allow guests to sample what they would like so they can make a better decision as to what to order.....considering a lot of their beer isn't widely known to people who aren't in the know about beer. Overall with the exception of the beer issue I have no complaints about this place. Good food, great service, and a relaxing atmosphere!
